Special Drainage Flange

Vertical electric motors on cooling towers are exposed to weather conditions and these motors experience issues with water pooling which has been a common occurrence in the oil and gas industry for many years.

In order to solve this problem for our Australian customers, Toshiba developed a new product from its Australian office to suit this need in the industry.

Under our IECEx nA certificate (today also known as Ex ec), Toshiba designed and has included a special flange for these cooling tower fan motors. This special design has a robust structure and uses Spheroidal graphite cast iron reinforced material, that allows any liquid to drain through the drive end to prevent water pooling issues.

This successful design is not only appreciated by our customers in Australia but has found demand in many overseas plants in Malaysia and Venezuela.
