Toshiba International Corporation – Oceania and 3ME Technology, Australia’s advanced systems integrator and electrification partner for off-highway vehicles, have come together in a strategic collaboration to co-develop a ≤1000 VDC liquid-cooled Lithium Titanium Oxide (LTO) SCiB™ traction battery. This solution is being developed specifically for high-power, heavy-duty mobile applications operating in demanding environments.

The collaboration is focused on sectors such as mining, maritime and rail, where safety, reliability, and long service life are critical requirements rather than optional features. These sectors demand energy storage solutions that can withstand harsh operating conditions while delivering consistent and dependable performance.

Toshiba is one of the world’s leading developers of Lithium Titanium Oxide (LTO) battery technology. LTO batteries are well known for their ultra-long cycle life, extremely fast charging capability, and outstanding safety characteristics, including a very low risk of thermal runaway. They also perform reliably across a wide range of operating temperatures, making them particularly suitable for heavy-duty and mission-critical applications.

By combining Toshiba’s globally proven SCiB™ battery technology with 3ME Technology’s strong expertise in systems integration and vehicle electrification, this partnership aims to deliver ultra-safe, reliable, and long-lasting solutions for both hybrid and fully electric traction systems.
